Goals

From Thursday, Nov. 21 through Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, RMU's SCJ Chapter hopes to raise at least $500 to purchase food for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank this fall semester.

The Give and Get Kickoff event on Thursday, Nov. 21 in the Nicholson Center Food Court from 5 to 7 p.m. begins the time period that students have to donate their extra meal plan funds.

Each semester the RMU Chapter of the Society for Collegiate Journalists sets a goal for its Balancing Out Hunger Fundraiser and records the results on this page. Since the inception of the project in 2010, SCJ has raised enough money to provide more than 1,000 meals to those in need!

Check back to see how the money you donated this semester was used to provide meals to the people of the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

Goals and Results

Fall 2013

Results

At the Give and Get kickoff event, the project raised $1,145.70. Over the course of the following three weeks, a total of 88 people donated to the Balancing Out Hunger Project at registers across RMU's campus, resulting in a total of $6,524.34. The money raised will be used to purchase food for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, which will then give the food to those in need. The Society for Collegiate Journalists can't thank those of you who participated enough! RMU ROCKS!
