What is Balancing Out Hunger?

DID YOU KNOW?

In the Greater Pittsburgh Area, 323,820 people face food insecurity each day.

At the end of each semester, students at RMU are able to take leftover funds on their meal plans and donate that money to the Food Bank. When the collection period ends, one of RMU's chefs buys food ranging from beef to soup. Volunteers from the Food Bank then come to campus, pick up the items, and take them back to their facilities to give to those in need.

In fall 2013, SCJ hosted the first-ever Give and Get Balancing Out Hunger kickoff event, which launched the start of the donation period on RMU's campus and featured raffles, live music, and light refreshments. More than $1,000 was raised that night alone for the fall 2013 semester campaign.
